Overview
This course is appropriate for both the newcomer and the more experienced practitioner. The speaker will give a bio-physiological explanation of acupuncture and why acupuncture works. Common historical and translational misconceptions about acupuncture will be addressed and explained, as well as the terms ‘Qi’ and ‘Mai’ according to the Huang Di Nei Jing. Practitioners will learn about the Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) etiology of the vessel systems and how it compares to the blood vessel system and the nervous system of Western Medicine. A thorough explanation of acupuncture points according to TCM and Western medicine will be given as well. Practitioners will have an in-depth understanding of a bio-physiological acupuncture model, which greatly benefits patient education and communication within the Integrative Medical community.
